It was established on November 11, 1928 and approved along with the regulations by the Minister of Military Affairs on February 12, 1929.
Officer's version of the badge, two-piece, sterling silver (confirmed on the reverse by a small feature), enamel.

The pre-war cap is consistent with the maker of the badge, which is further confirmed on the reverse with the WG namesake in ligature.
