The badge was also referred to as the Badge of Merit or For Valor. It was established by an order of the regiment, dated September 14, 1916, by its commander, Lt. Col. Boleslaw Roja. It was registered with the Ministry of Military Affairs on May 5, 1920. It was approved by its minister on December 13, 1921.
