Very rare Danzig medal weighing two ducats in gold, minted in honor of the return from captivity to Danzig of Aegidius Strauch, an outstanding Protestant theologian.
Strauch was known for his uncompromising attitude towards Catholics, whom he fought with all his might, both with sermons and written words, including in the publication 'Purim Days'.
The gold medal is currently known from two specimens on the world auction market, and the presented one is one of them.
A true Top Pop. The only coin with the highest grade in NGC population report.
