Georg Friedrich, margrave of Ansbach and Bayreuth, prince of Krnov, prince of Oppeln and Ratibor, then of Żagań, lord of Bytom, Tarnowskie Góry and Bohumín, guardian of the prince of Prussia from 1578. He often visited the Tarnów mountains, introducing many reforms in mining and forestry in Silesia.

Georg Friedrich inherited the principality of Krnov from his father. In 1586 it also became legal
protector of Friedrich Albrecht, the Prussian prince, which was associated with taking power in Ducal Prussia.Georg Friedrich minted coins in his native Brandenburg-Franconia, in Krnov and in Ducal Prussia. On coins minted in Krnov he called himself the prince of Silesia.
