Aemilius Lepidus Paullus on the reverse recalls the figure of his ancestor Lucius Aemilius Paulus of Macedon which in 168 BC, commanding the Roman troops at the Battle of Pydna, led to the final subjugation of Macedonia to Rome and the permanent domination of Rome over the Hellenistic world.

Well preserved coin with only slight wear on high points and a fair amount of mint luster.
