Rare denarius of Pupienus, one of the shortest reigning Emperors in Roman history. Pupien was proclaimed emperor at the same time as Balbin, so that at the same time they both co-ruled the Empire. According to a new chronology compiled by A. Chastagnol and M. Christol, between the end of April and the beginning of May 238, there was a certain conflict between the two co-emperors, who were finally murdered by the praetorians.
