During the reign of August III of Poland, augustdor appeared, a new denomination previously unknown in Poland. It was a gold coin minted to a different standard than the ducat. The model for it was the French louis d'or (Louis d'or - golden Louis). The value of the new coin was 5 thalers, it was struck from 21 7/12 carat gold and weighed 6.63 g. Half-augustdors and double augustdors were also minted there. All three denominations represented the same iconographic scheme. The obverse bore a bust of the king and a circumscription. On the reverse, a multi-field coat of arms is placed under the crown, with stick branches on its sides, and at the bottom, the value of the coin expressed in thalers (2 ½ th., 5 th., 10 th.) and a circumscription with a date at the end. In the years 1758-1760, the Prussian King Frederick II minted large numbers of counterfeit coins imitating Polish Augustors. They contained only 4.2-4.3 g of gold.
